Williams Lake Solar Signalized Crosswalks Phase 2

Summary

This project will install a solar powered signalized crosswalk within the hospital area.

The intersection close to the proposed hospital area Williams Lake is situated in one of the highest traffic areas of the community, between residential neighbourhood and commercial zones. This is the main transit and school bus route to 5 education campuses. The speed limit in the area is 50Km/hr and 30Km/hr but the long stretch of road with few stops signs allow for significant speed pick up in all four directions of this intersection.

The City has received several complaint letters submitted by the community over the years whom regularly use the current intersection and are concerned for their safety and wellbeing. This project will increase vulnerable road user safety in an area that is long past due for a pedestrian controlled signalled cross-walk.
