The project aims to address safety concerns by ensuring clear, visible, and culturally relevant signage to guide residents, visitors, and commercial drivers. The funding will cover the design, production, and installation of durable signs, including speed limits, pedestrian crossings, and community markers. These improvements will support safe travel, reduce accidents, and promote awareness of Tl’esqox as a unique Indigenous community.
The Tl’esqox community currently lacks essential road and safety signage, posing significant risks to residents, visitors, and commercial drivers navigating our roads. The absence of clear indicators such as speed limits, pedestrian crossings, and wildlife alerts has led to unsafe driving conditions, increasing the likelihood of accidents and posing threats to community members, including children and Elders who frequently walk along the roads.
The project funding will cover the design, production, and installation of durable signs, including speed limits, pedestrian crossings, and community markers. Installing signage is a critical step in addressing these safety concerns, fostering awareness, and encouraging responsible driving behaviors. It will also improve navigation for visitors and service providers unfamiliar with the area. This initiative reflects Tl’esqox’s dedication to protecting the well-being of its community members and visitors.
