Summary

The City of Williams Lake is proposing to install a new solar powered signalized crosswalk at the intersection of Western and Blair that is centralized between three educational institutes. Although the speed limit in the area is reduced the City has concerns for pedestrian safety as there is currently limited crosswalk infrastructure.

The intersection of Western and Blair that is centralized between three educational institutes and although the speed limit in the area is reduced the City has concerns for pedestrian safety as there is currently limited crosswalk infrastructure. The City has received several community complaints over the years whom regularly use the current intersection and are concerned for their safety and wellbeing. The identified project area is heavily used by motor vehicles and large buses amongst hundreds of school children and residents on a regular basis. There is no traffic safety equipment and lighting in the area and needs updated from automobile focused to pedestrian focused.
