Project Overview

The Sik-E-Dakh Guardian Trail is a transformative initiative designed to enhance road safety and promote active transportation in our community. This 1 km walking trail, running parallel to an existing road, aligns perfectly with Vision Zero's core principles. Our goal is to create a safe and accessible environment for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike, in line with Vision Zero's commitment to the "safe systems approach." By reducing potential conflict points, implementing safe speed limits, and incorporating features like proper lighting and pedestrian crossings, the Sik-E-Dakh Guardian Trail seeks to make road user deaths and serious injuries nearly impossible outcomes. This project embodies Vision Zero's mission of fostering a road network that prioritizes safety and inclusivity, ultimately creating a safer and more sustainable transportation system for our community. We will also incorporate the Gitxsan Language with Signage and QR codes that provide cultural information about the area.
