Prince Rupert High School Intersection Traffic Calming Initiative

Summary

This project will work with local high school students to create a painted bump out design for both sides of the roadway. Barriered flexible delineator posts will be installed.

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to provide traffic calming at a busy crossing adjacent to an intersection near the high school. The project will work to include the high school art class in developing a painted bump out design for both sides of the roadway, barriered by flexible delineator posts. This project will narrow the roadway to calm the heavy traffic that regularly uses this key community artery, especially just before and after work hours as well as high school and daycare drop off times. The crossing is also adjacent to a bus stop, and is a key artery connecting the east side of the community, high school, arts and recreation centres.
