This project will allow for the installation of a traffic circle to improve safety for pedestrians and other active transportation users.
The Musqueam Nation will use the Vision Zero Grant to partially fund a new culturally designed traffic circle at W 51st Avenue and Salish Drive, an intersection with many reported 'close call' incidents in the community. The surrounding area has no sidewalks, which puts pedestrians, children on their bikes and skateboards exposed to oncoming vehicles. The community hopes that the implementation of a traffic circle at this intersection will slow traffic and make the area safer for road users. In the future, this project hopes to build a Musqueam artist lead design in the centre of the traffic circle as a focal point in the community.
