The Town of Oliver is installing pedestrian-controlled traffic signals at key crosswalks in Oliver, British Columbia.
Many of Oliver's roads are 50 km per hour. Given the limited number of pedestrian-controlled crossings in Oliver, there is a significant need to increase the number of crossings available in for pedestrians in the community. This project will directly and clearly meet the need identified through multiple community engagement processes, research about the community, and best practices to make Oliver more accessibility, age friendly, safer for children and youth, and generally increase the safety of the community. The crossings will be installed at crossings that have been identified by these plans (which has included engagement with over 1,000 individuals).
