This project will evaluate different traffic calming strategies to improve safety at a 4-way stop at Granville and Douglas street. This is the main intersection when entering Port Hardy.
Members of the public have often overlooked the yield sign and speeding down Grandville when entering Port Hardy. This safety concern has been made even worse since the opening of the McDonald's leading to increased flow of traffic in that area. District employees and council members reported witnessing near misses and potential motor vehicle incidents. This has been noted in the towns council meetings and the operations department has been given approval to start with the planning stage to tackle this issue.
This project will fund efforts towards improving traffic safety at the Granville and Douglas Intersection.
