Our school is built on a hill and we have no designated area for people with disabilities. This project created handicap parking for the elders and people with disabilities to park closer to the school.
This project was carried out in partnership with the community transportation department. Designated parking allows people with disabilities to have access to buildings and services in the community. People who qualify for parking permits need the extra width of the designated spaces to get in and out of their vehicles in a wheelchair, use crutches, a cane or other mobility aid, or need to park close to a building entrance because their health prevents them from walking very far.
This project installed 2 handicap parking stalls to improve accessibility at Eliza Archie Memorial School.
